07/09/2006 :: In the end of August, the Western part of Nepal was badly hit by floods, leaving several thousand families without food, drinking water, and places to live. To ease their suffering, the drivers of the diplomatic missions got together for raising funds, and collect food and cloths.
Mr. Madan Lama, Mr. Deepak Shrestha and Mr. Raju Khatri from the Norwegian Embassy were the group behind this heart warming initiative, During a few days of fundraising, the group of drivers collected more than 67 000 rupees, in addition to warm cloths, blankets and food. Red Cross in Kathmandu will distribute the collected items and money to the flood victims.
The campaign received coverage in the local press, and the representatives from the Norwegian Embassy were interviewed on television.
