VISITORS VISA (SHORT STAYS UP TO 90 DAYS)
Schengen Visa for Short Stay
Short stay visas of up to three months (90 days) are issued on the basis of Schengen agreement. For this, the main purpose of the visit should be specified. If you intend to visit friends, family in Norway or attend a meeting/conference, you must submit the following:
• Receipt from the bank for payment of visa fee. Applicants must first pay the non-refundable application fee of EURO 60 (applicable from the 1st of January 2007) when submitting the application. The amount is to be deposited at any branches of Standard Chartered Bank: Account No: 18-1072080-02 as non-refundable visa fee. However the visa fee is waived for Children less than 6 years.
• Application for Schengen Visa' form duly filled along with 2 recent photographs (size of photo on Embassy notice board).
• Valid Passport with minimum validity of 6 months and all cancelled passports.
• A letter stating your purpose of visit to Norway.
• Travel Itinerary showing exact date of travel.
• Medical/Travel Insurance for the entire period of stay in Norway, valid for all Schengen countries.
Additional papers to be submitted if attending Conferences/Seminars/Short Term Courses/Business Trips:
• Invitation letter from a Norwegian Sponsor/Business Partner/Conference/Meeting Secretariat Letter from Employer clearly stating the purpose of visit and covering of expenses.
• Bank statement of applicant's business/company in Nepal
• Applicant's Resume
Additional Documents to be submitted if visiting a Friend or Relative:
• If sponsored by a person in Norway – an original "Guarantee Form for Visits" should be submitted along with an invitation letter, copy of sponsor's passport. The Norwegian Sponsor is required to complete the procedure of 'Guarantee' with the local police giving full identification and income details. The original Guarantee Form for Visits filled by the sponsor should be stamped by the police authorities in Norway and attached to the application that is submitted to the Embassy
• Documentation of family relationship and proof of residence (if the reference is family member)
• Bank statement of applicant/applicant's business/company in Nepal. Proof of land/house ownership, if any.
It should be noted that an invitation from a Norwegian company for a possible business promotion or to participate in an exhibition or a conference is not in itself sufficient documentation for granting a visa. In such cases, the Embassy will seek credible evidence to justify how and why such participation will be beneficial and be of interest to the applicant.
If the visa section in the Embassy is not satisfied with the bona fide of the applicant, the application will be rejected and the stamp shown below will remain on the passport. The applicant should be aware that at the time of submitting a visa application, the name of the applicant is formally registered in the Schengen Data System.

If a positive decision is made on any application, round trip air tickets with confirmed return dates must be presented to the visa section.
Please note that documentation requirement varies from case to case, so you are requested to present adequate papers to justify your case well to shorten the processing time. Normally, a short stay visa is decided within 7 days, if the embassy needs to verify some of the documents it will take longer.

RESIDENCE PERMIT
Applications should be filled in correctly and necessary documents should be attached. This will enable visa section to deal with all applications in a minimum of processing time. Each application must include:
• Application form duly filled along with 2 recent photographs (size of photo on Embassy notice board).
• Valid Passport with minimum validity of 6 months.
• All cancelled passports.
• Receipt from the bank for payment of visa fee. The amount is to be deposited at any branches of Standard Chartered Bank: Account No: 18-1072080-02 as non-refundable visa fee. The Visa fee is waived for visa applicants in any of the following categories:
o Children under 6 years
o School pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the purpose of study or educational training
o Researchers from the third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research, as per specific rules
A. Study purposes (Additional document):
• A letter of admission from the relevant educational institution in Norway (both the educational institution and the course of study must be approved pursuant to the guidelines issued by the Directorate of Immigration and the Ministry of Education and Research)
• Study plan, Financing plan
• Original academic certificates and all documents showing previous education.
• Documentation showing how the stay is to be financed during the first year.
• For self-financing students, the required amount of money ie NOK 80,000 per annum must be transferred to a Norwegian bank account in the applicant's own name by 15th August, and if you have to pay school fee, this amount will be in addition to the above-mentioned subsistence requirement.
• For Folk High School students as per school's requirement. (Proof of amount submitted must be included along with the application form.)
• Documentation of subsistence ( for the studies financed through the Educational Loan Fund)
• Documentation of housing.
• Plan for the course of education for applicants of Folk High Schools.
• Information about reference persons-relatives in Norway.
• Documentation of a membership/attachment to a religious congregation in applicant's homeland for applicants for sectarian schools.
B. Family reunification (Additional document):
• All applicants, except children under 6years must first pay the non-refundable application fee of Nrs. 33.400.00 (NOK 3000, Equivalent in NRs.) when submitting the application.
• Original Birth certificate, Original Marriage Certificate, Proof of family relationship.
• Documentation of subsistence, for instance a certificate of tax and earnings.
• Pay slips for the last three months (Income of family member in Norway should not be less than NOK 182,400,-).
• Up-to-date certificate of residence.
C. Work Permit (Seasonal Worker/Au Pair) (Additional document):
• All applicants must first pay the non-refundable application fee of Nrs. 12250.00 (NOK 1100, Equivalent in NRs.) when submitting the application.
• Personal letter stating your purpose of visit to Norway.
• Original Offer of Employment Form or an Employment Contract
• Documentation ensuring housing for the period to which the application relates.
• Documentation of the host family’s nationality or copy of passport (for Au pairs only )
• Original Birth Certificate (for Au pairs only)
